Research at AIT is closely aligned with the needs of industry and current societal challenges. The implementation of the Austrian Industrial Strategy 2035 also requires strong applied research as a connecting element between science and industrial value creation. AIT applies this strength in a targeted manner across key future-oriented fields - from the digital transformation of production and sustainable energy systems to resilient infrastructure and safety-critical technologies. Our partners benefit both from technological excellence and from our ability to combine individual technologies into integrated, scalable solutions. This ability to take an idea through to application is a key driver for the competitiveness of industry, as well as for Austria and Europe as centres of innovation.
To further expand our sphere of influence, we have set ourselves ambitious goals. Digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, form a central foundation for this. We do not view them as isolated applications, but as a strategic capability that makes industrial and societal systems more efficient, robust and scalable. With AI Factory Austria, we are working with strong partners to create a high-performance infrastructure for their development and application in Austria.
Furthermore, we are shaping the next generation of industrial value creation with the aim of sustainably strengthening competitiveness. The focus is on the intelligent integration of energy and resource efficiency, the circular economy and the end-to-end digitalisation of industrial processes. On this basis, we are increasing efficiency, flexibility and productivity and developing industrial systems that are both economically successful and sustainable.
At the same time, we are developing new approaches to significantly accelerate research and development processes. A consistent data strategy, clear governance structures and the use of modern digital methods enable highly automated engineering processes and shorten innovation cycles. In this way, we demonstrate how industrial innovation processes can be made more efficient and scalable.
Another key focus is on expanding our technological expertise in quantum communication. Europe plays a leading role in this field of the future. Here, AIT makes a concrete contribution to technological sovereignty in security-critical areas.
We are convinced that excellent research only realises its full value when it is translated into economic strength, societal benefits and sustainable systems. That is why we are working consistently to further increase our innovative strength and develop solutions that make a real difference. This is made possible by our highly qualified and dedicated staff, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks.
