Conventional training methods reach their limits: static simulations or live exercises are costly, time-consuming and can only depict a limited range of realistic scenarios. The growing demand for innovative training solutions that better prepare medical professionals for unpredictable emergencies requires a new approach.
Green Manikin is a mixed reality training platform that combines the best of real and virtual simulation. Through the use of haptic feedback, AI-driven interactions and real-time speech recognition, the system enables realistic exercises with virtual patients. Emergency physicians can work with real medical equipment while immersing themselves in digital scenarios that simulate life-threatening situations. This immersive learning environment not only improves technical skills, but also the ability to make informed decisions under stress. The integration of AI and biometric tracking systems also opens up new possibilities for personalised learning processes and the development of new standards in medical simulation. More effective training of medical professionals ultimately means improved patient care and better chances of survival in emergencies. Green Manikin provides a resource-efficient and scalable alternative to conventional training, as it requires less physical infrastructure and can be flexibly adapted to new medical challenges. This is particularly relevant for regions with limited training resources or for emergency personnel who need to be regularly prepared for extreme scenarios, for example in disaster control or military medical services.
Green Manikin is being further optimised and tested in pilot projects through close cooperation with first responder organisations such as Johanniter Austria and technology companies from the simulation sector. In the future, the platform will be extended to a wider range of medical emergencies and adapted for other areas of application such as military medicine or civil defence.
