High-performance vision technologies for industrial quality control

27.10.2021
At the VISION 2021 trade fair, AIT presented innovative inline quality inspection systems and impressed both experts and trade visitors alike

The world's leading trade fair VISION is the meeting point of the international machine vision industry and an important anchor point for a worldwide audience.

When it comes to innovative inspection solutions for a wide range of industrial applications, the AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control (VAC) is one of the leading institutions.

The nomination for this year's Vision Award also confirms that AIT is one of the best in the field of industrial inspection technologies. With xposure:photometry for 3D surface inspection - inline, with highest speed and precision - VAC convinced the jury. xposure:photometry was among the top 4 innovations and was presented to the experts for the first time at VISION.

Award winning technologies, professional consulting, interactive presentations, open booth design - these were the features that scored the AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control points at the trade fair

"Company representatives come to us with specific inspection requirements," explains Petra Thanner, high-performance vision expert at the Center VAC. "We can present our technologies to them on site and give them solution-oriented advice because we are all experts. That's what makes us special as a team. These initial discussions then give rise to joint projects that bind us together for years to come and move both parties forward."

The Center VAC presented the following technologies live, which can now be viewed at AIT (Giefinggasse 4)

xposure:photometry

The innovative photometric stereo line scan camera system for high-speed 3D surface inspection -  600 million points per second - was nominated for the Vision Award. It is suitable for use in industrial quality control as well as for the inspection of infrastructure (e.g. rails).

ICI:inspect

Inline Computational Imaging (ICI) is an award-winning AIT technology for simultaneous 2D and 3D inspection - 40 million points per second - of moving objects.

ICI:microscopy

Due to a patented microscope optics, and a matched dome illumination, the Inline Computational Imaging (ICI) algorithms of ICI:inspect can also be used for microscopic inline inspection - 40 million points per second - of moving objects.

TinyScan360°

The revolutionary AIT 3D stereo - scanning system with a diameter of 3 mm is especially suitable for the measurement, visualization and modeling of small objects such as pipes, cavities and boreholes with diameters from 5mm.
