The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria's largest research and technology organisation with more than 1,600 employees working on the key infrastructure issues of the future.
AIT focuses on the two interlinked research priorities of "sustainable and resilient infrastructures", particularly in the areas of energy, transport and health, and the "digital transformation of industry and society", working closely with industry and clients from public institutions. Research & development is the central driver of innovation for industry, the economy and society, secures jobs and prosperity and thus strengthens Austria as a business location.

AIT's shareholders are the Republic of Austria (Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology), which holds 50.46% of the shares, and the Association for the Promotion of Research and Innovation(Federation of Austrian Industries) with 49.54% of the shares.

Vision & Purpose
Clear guidelines for the future development of AIT have been formulated.
"We make innovation a driving force in Europe." Our vision puts innovation at the centre: 'Our main focus is not research for its own sake, but rather the results of research that we bring to market and that prove themselves there,' explains AIT Managing Director Alexander Svejkovsky. A second key aspect is that AIT's home market is Europe. 'This vision should serve as a guiding star to show us whether we are moving in the right direction when changes occur,' says Svejkovsky.
Shaping the future
Closely linked to this is AIT's purpose: „We turn research into innovation by bridging science and the economy to shape tomorrow’s world.“ Brigitte Bach, Managing Director and spokesperson for the three-member management board, explains: „Where our expertise and excellence lie, we can help shape the future.“
Scientific Director Andreas Kugi adds: „We want to help industry increase its competitiveness.
