Amadeus Cosimo Lobe represented the AIT at the EXPERT-TALK at FAKUMA 2023

On October 18th, 2023, the Plastics-Cluster hosted a panel discussion at the FAKUMA 2023 fair. Key players from the plastics industry took part, including Werner Faulhaber/ Head of Development at ARBURG, Jerome Berger/ CEO of ARBURG Austria, Michael Wittmann/ Managing Director of the Wittmann Group, Gerhard Dimmler/ CTO of Engel, Florian Schieder/ Development and Innovation Planning at EREMA. As an expert in the field of data-based and AI-supported analysis and control of complex dynamic systems, the scientist Amadeus Cosimo Lobe/ AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control was present. The "Expert Talk" was dedicated to the topics of digitalization, artificial intelligence, process automation, energy efficiency and circular economy. In short, plastics processing in the smart factory of the future.

The panel discussion aimed to demonstrate that the intricate field of plastics can be integrated into climate protection and the circular economy, positioning it as a forward-looking industry.

Collaboratively, companies and research institutions are addressing these challenges with a high degree of innovation. Through the strategic integration of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies, alongside industry experts, targeted generation of digital assets is envisioned to elevate knowledge management to unprecedented heights, optimizing production processes and enhancing product quality.

Amadeus Lobe highlighted, " The spectrum of AI offers highly effective methods for analyzing and optimizing processes. Nevertheless, adequate data quality and integrity are indispensable for deriving added value through the right methods. AIT actively supports knowledge management in companies by digitizing expert knowledge, thereby facilitating quicker accessibility."

The motto of this year's FAKUMA  was "Digital meets Circular Economy". The main topics were efficiency, flexibility, digitalization of machines and systems, and the circular economy for plastics.
