GEWINN Info Day 2023: Brigitte Bach spoke about research as the key to a climate-neutral, digital and liveable world

23.11.2023

The more students know about the world of business, the better it is for them, for companies and therefore for all of us! This was the motto of this year's GEWINN Info Day, Austria's largest business congress, which took place on 22 November 2023 at the Congress Center Messe Wien. Over 9,000 students and their teachers took part in this event and used the opportunity to engage in lively discussions with top managers and experts.

The event was characterised by exciting discussion rounds. In her panel, Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler presented Austria's climate targets and explained how the energy transition can work. Brigitte Bach (Managing Director AIT), Henrietta Egerth-Stadlhuber (Managing Director FFG) and Gerald Reischl (AT&S Director Marketing/PR) discussed the topic "Innovation and research in Austria: Where is the journey heading?" Brigitte Bach spoke about the exciting opportunities offered by a career in research. Particularly in view of the major challenges of our time, a career in which you can actively shape the future is more important than ever. "The work at AIT aims to develop innovations that not only promote economic growth, but also support a sustainable and resilient society," says Bach.

The AIT presented a wide range of its research projects at the GEWINN Info Day. Markus Murtinger and Jasmin Lampert enthralled the audience with specialist presentations on the topics of "XR eXtended Reality" and "AI - Present and Future".

The students eagerly explored the exciting research topics at the AIT stand and learnt a lot of interesting facts about the careers and everyday work of our researchers at first hand. Marie-Theres Raberger (Head of Recruiting & HR Development) presented the diverse career opportunities at AIT. Michael Gafert and Navruz Demirel (both from the Centre for Technology Experience) presented the "Im.FLUGE" project and took visitors on a virtual drone flight over Vienna by day and night. Jasmin Lampert and Refiz Duro (both from the Centre for Digital Safety & Security) gave an exciting insight into the "AI4Trees" research project. With the help of artificial intelligence, an important knowledge base is being created here to better understand the effects of climate change on tree growth and to develop more sustainable concepts for forest management.

Responsible for the successful participation of the AIT were: Christine Wahlmueller-Schiller (Marketing & Communications at the Centre for Technology Experience) and Marie-Theres Raberger (Head of Recruiting & HR Development).
