A traffic light that recognises pedestrians, avoids traffic jams and gives priority to public transport: What sounds like something out of a science fiction film could be the technology of the future - and is currently being tested in Linz. Traffic lights equipped with artificial intelligence are supposed to control the traffic on their own. But there are a number of challenges to be considered, such as the predictability of autonomously driving vehicles compared to human "unpredictable" drivers, as Christoph Schmittner from the Center for Digital Safety & Security explains in an interview with ServusTV.
