AIT experts present NEFI projects at the "Tag der Vorzeigeregion" in Salzburg

Austria's goal is to be climate neutral by 2040. To achieve this, the Climate and Energy Fund promotes innovative technologies "Made in Austria". At the annual event of the "Vorzeigeregion Energie" on 7th  November in Salzburg, the RTI initiative, which runs until 2025, was reviewed.

This year, the stage belonged especially to those women who are active in the three showcase regions. Researchers from science and industry gave an insight into their work, which is also attracting attention beyond Austria through the global research alliance "Mission Innovation". The RTI initiative "Energy Showcase Region" is growing from year to year and can already look back on experience from 80 projects. Model solutions for intelligent, safe and affordable energy and transport systems of the future are developed and demonstrated.

Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler: "The energy transition needs pioneers. These are precisely what we find in the showcase regions. With domestic innovations, we relieve the burden on the climate and create climate-friendly added value. Green jobs are created in the regions and Austria positions itself as a technological pioneer on the global market."

Climate and Energy Fund Director Theresia Vogel: "We are pleased about the internationally renowned results of the showcase regions. Together, business and science are proving practical solutions in the areas of energy transition, sustainable industry and climate-friendly mobility. This is how successful transformation works."

NEFI - New Energy for Industry, as part of the Energy Showcase Region, focuses on the decarbonisation of industry with the help of key technologies "Made in Austria" and networks technology providers, industry, science, politics and the public. The constantly growing consortium with currently more than 100 partners from companies, research institutions and public institutions is developing technological and systemic solutions in 24 projects to enable the energy transition in industry.

NEFI researchers Sabrina Dusek (AIT Center for Energy), Tara Esterl (AIT Center for Energy) and Julia Vopava-Wrienz (Montanuniversität Leoben) presented the NEFI projects LEAP, Industry4Redispatch and TCP_to_Industry in Salzburg.
