Manfred Tscheligi, Head of the Center for Technology Experience at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and professor at the University of Salzburg, together with five other researchers from Europe and the USA, was awarded the renowned IFIP TC13 Pioneer Award for outstanding contributions to human-computer interaction. IFIP TC13 is an international committee of over 30-member national societies and 10 Working Groups, representing specialists in human factors, ergonomics, cognitive science, computer science, design, and related disciplines. IFIP TC13 appoints pioneers to honor the greatest contributors to the development and growth of the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) by engaging in the educational, theoretical, technical, commercial or professional aspects of analysis, design, construction, evaluation and use of interactive systems.

Manfred Tscheligi investigates various aspects of the interaction between humans and computers to enable desired interactions and to develop desirable future scenarios. His research focuses on the investigation of complex and specific interaction situations, such as in production environments or cars of the future, new interaction materialities and approaches, and user experience as a comprehensive concept. Since the beginning, his work has been a bridge between basic research, applied research, education and training, and implementation in industry.
