Overview of Heating and Cooling: Perceptions, Markets and Regulatory Frameworks for Decarbonisation

The project compiles an overview of the heating and cooling sector for the European Commission, with a focus on district heating (DH) and heat pumps (HP) for end customers. The AIT analysed and compared the different cost components for the users of district heating and heat pumps. The analysis included the identification of the most important influencing factors and the collection and preparation of relevant data for EU27+ UK, Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland. Based on this, an Excel tool for calculating the total cost of ownership for the provision of heating and cooling with heat pumps and district heating was created and evaluated for different countries.
