10.08.2023
New report shows impact of research and innovation in the field of Green Transition

How much impact do the European Commission's funding programmes have when it comes to Green Transition? Michael Dinges from the Center for Innovation Systems & Policy and his team took a closer look. Now the Evaluation study on the European framework programmes for research and innovation for addressing global challenges and industrial competitiveness were published.

"The overall results of the study on activities in the field of 'Green Transition' show that the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation has made important contributions to ecological change. In order to increase the impact of the activities, a stronger focus should be put on the creation of system solutions" says Dinges. Horizon 2020 has helped to achieve the desired results in terms of knowledge creation and capacity building, as well as scientific and technological development. However, environmental change does not only need technological solutions. The interaction of different policy measures, the development of contributions to better policy planning, new technical and environmental standards and norms are gaining importance for research and innovation.
