In recent years, Austrian manufacturing companies have continuously invested in modern production technologies as well as in the development of new products. The quality of Austrian products is a key competitive factor on the global market. AI solutions and collaborative robots are technologies of the future that almost a quarter of the companies intend to use in the next few years. But the lack of qualified personnel also remains a problem in manufacturing. These are, in brief, the results of the "European Manufacturing Survey" conducted by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology.
The European Manufacturing Survey (EMS) has been organised since 2001 by a consortium of research institutes and universities from currently 19 European countries. The EMS records the use of technical and organisational innovations and the resulting improvements in production performance.With 248 participants in the 2022 survey, representative statements can be made about Austrian manufacturing.
