Gaia-X Hub Austria positions Austria in the European data ecosystem

The Gaia-X Association has taken a significant step towards a federated pan-European data services ecosystem with the establishment of national Gaia-X Hubs. The Austrian Hub will serve as a central contact point for information and cooperation regarding federated data infrastructures within the framework of Gaia-X. Vienna (OTS/BMDW) 30.03.2022 - The Gaia-X Hub Austria was founded on the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Digitalisation and Economic Location (BMDW) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). The Hub is the national representation of the European flagship initiative Gaia-X. The aim of the Hub is to enable Austrian organisations to enter data spaces, a promising growth market.

In the European initiative Gaia-X, the framework conditions for the development of data spaces are designed on the basis of openness, transparency and trust. To this end, technical, organisational and legal standards are being defined and the corresponding tools and infrastructures are being created to guarantee a federated and secure European data space. The result is not a cloud, but a networked system that connects providers of cloud services as well as data providers and consumers with each other.
