International Workshop on Radiation Measurement for Photovoltaics led by AIT

25.03.2021

On March 15th  and 16th, international experts gathered under the leadership of AIT to exchange ideas on harmonization and standardization of spectral solar radiation measurement for photovoltaics.

Precise spectral solar radiation measurement for photovoltaics is getting increasingly important: the requirements for performance determination of photovoltaic technologies in the laboratory as well as quality assurance and yield forecasts of photovoltaic power plants demand ever more accurate calibration and improved measurement routines and models.

Representatives from industry and research as well as members of standardization groups and calibration institutes exchanged views on topics of measurement uncertainties and use of digital methods to increase measurement precession. The planning of the next measurement campaign (International Spectroradiometer and Broad Band Intercomaprison Campaign) under the leadership of ESTI-JRC was discussed regarding the COV framework for 2022.

Junior Engineer Ankit Mittal and Senior Scientist Marcus Rennhofer (Center for Energy, Energy Conversion and Hydrogen) organized the online event attended by over 40 participants from 9 countries.
