04.09.2020
AIT Unit Bioresources was for the first time part of the children's university of Tulln

This year "Adventure Science" was the main focus of the „Kinder UNI Tulln 2020“, which was organized by "Nature in the Garden" at the GARTEN TULLN and Campus Tulln Technopol for the seventh year in a row. For five days 82 participants, age eight to twelve, carried out experiments in small groups, researched animals and plants and got to know different scientific and green professions.

"Experts are needed to cope with climate change. 82 children got to know numerous scientific and green professions at the Children's University of Tulln 2020," said State Councillor Martin Eichtinger, continuing "I congratulate the graduates. The Children UNI Tulln is an important project to inspire young people for the environment and its cycles".

The experts of the AIT Unit Bioresources in Tulln introduced children to the fascinating world of microbiology. After a theory part, the children were allowed to try out the work as microbiologists at three laboratory stations. Environmental samples were collected and plated, fungi were identified with the help of a microscope and small pieces of art were created.

"At the children's university we have the opportunity to inspire the next generation for our topics, to give them an insight into the job description and to awaken their interest in microbiology with fun and joy" Clara Pogner, workshop leader for AIT.
