The CDI2 project of the AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control wins the highest award for the best innovation in banknote processing

The "IACA Excellence in Currency Award" was presented at the Currency Conference in Dubai. This prize, awarded every two years by the International Association of Currency Affairs, is the highest award in the industry. This year, the project “Common Detector Interface 2 (CDI2)” was awarded in the category “Best Banknote Processing Innovation”. The AIT Center for Vision, Automation and Control played a major role in the CDI2 project with an eight-member team. On behalf of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, a new open standard for banknote sorting was developed.

As a result, it is now possible for third-party providers to integrate their inspection sensors, regardless of the manufacturer of the sorting machine. The new standard is already being implemented by the industry in the first banknote sorting machines.

The center is proud and delighted with the award.
