From 28 to 29 November 2017 ICoMaaS, the 1st International Conference on Mobility as a Service, took place in Tampere, Finland. It aimed to enhance the state of research, business and regulation related to Mobility as a Service (MaaS), to build bridges between government, research and business and to identify knowledge gaps requiring further research.

AIT experts Martin Reinthaler and Sebastian Knopp presented the paper “An Optimization Based Analysis of a Micro Transportation Service” (written by Johannes Asamer, Benjamin Biesinger, Sebastian Knopp, Pamela Nolz and Martin Reinthaler from AIT Center for Mobility Systems), related to the ERA-NET Cofund Smart Cities and Communities (ENSCC) project Smart Commuting.

Smart Commuting explores the different ways of combining work and life with intelligent transport system services and new concepts for supporting sustainable commuting. The mobility of the workforce is continually increasing due to either commuting or the nature of work requiring extensive travel. This has several consequences, as for example prolonged commuting times decrease the productivity of work according to several studies. This project explores the relationship of this increased mobility with sustainable and intelligent transportation system services.
