Japanese Delegation visits the AIT

3. Dialog über die globalen Innovationen von Urban Mobility, Smart Energy und Healthcare
 

On October 7th, 2014, the 3rd Dialogue for Global Innovation on Urban Mobility, Smart Energy and Healthcare took place at the headquarters of ams AG in Unterpremstätten (Styria). The ams AG is a multinational manufacturer of analog integrated circuits and semiconductors.

In Unterpremstätten, speakers from both industry and academy gathered together to discuss the future of urban mobility. Tord Hermansson, Director of Volvo Car Corporation, illustrated the realization of  a self-driving V60 model; chief engineer Toshitake Kawai showed recent test results of Honda Motor on how people manage tasks simultaneously while driving; and Kazuo Sato, Department Manager at Toyota Central R&D Laboratories, explained about the progresses achieved at his company with the remote sensing technology LiDAR. Markus Ray, senior engineer at AIT Mobility, discussed the utilization of IT technologies to manage and visualize traffic data.

On the following day, the Japanese delegation visited the Mobility Department of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology to learn about recent research projects in the field of urban mobility in Austria. Christian Chimani, Head of AIT Mobility, made an excursion into the AIT and the Mobility Department, while the heads of the business units Dynamic Transportation Systems, Transport Infrastructure Technologies, Electric Drive Technology and Safe & Autonomous Systems presented their research topics. The lectures closed with open discussions, which also formed a good basis for various networking opportunities.
