Development and investigation of novel and industry-relevant joining technologies for the aerospace and automotive industry
Hybrid joining with Pin technology
In the field of hybrid joining technologies, LKR has been working continuously for over 10 years on the development and investigation of CMT pin supported joining technology. Here, small pin elements are welded onto the surface of metallic components using the CMT pin process (by Fronius). These pin elements (h = 1-10mm, d=0.8 - 2.0mm) can be formed into different geometries. Endless fibres or fibre layings in dry or pre-impregnated version can then be placed and pressed onto the created artificial 3D surface. This creates a form fit between the metal component and the fibre preform, which leads to the final connection after final compacting, resin infiltration and curing.
The LKR carries out research in this field in combination with the production of special wires for:
- Special pins
- CMT-pin process and generation of welding parameters/characteristics
- Prototyp design
- Manufacturing with partners from the field of fibre reinforced plastics
- Numerical simulation including
