Perception Based Modeling focuses on closing the gap between individual decisions based on context-related perception and the integration of this individual knowledge and preconceived expectations into mobility simulations. In order to develop simulation tools which can represent the complexity of an individual’s interaction with the environment, a comprehensive understanding of human perception is of vital importance. In this research study we will examine how the human perception of urban environments can be captured and integrated into mobility simulations as a computational model.
Perception Based Modeling is part of the research collaboration between the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
