The European Manufacturing Survey (EMS) is organised by a consortium of research institutes and universities from and across Europe and conducted in Austria since 2006 on a three-annual basis. The aim of the EMS is to analyse the diffusion of manufacturing technologies. Amongst others the implementation of different manufacturing technologies, organisational innovations and product innovation activities related to process innovations are investigated. In addition, data on the structural characteristics and performance of the companies is collected. The results allow to analyse the competitiveness of the Austrian manufacturing industry.
