This project focuses on assessing the significance of policy induced R&D network structures for the creation of new knowledge at the regional level. The overall objective is to measure the impact of EU funded R&D networks on knowledge production in European regions. Conceptually, the study departs from the regional version of the knowledge production function (KPF) to establish the specific relationship between regional knowledge production intensity, such as indicated by regional patenting, and inter-regional R&D network participation in spatial econometric framework.
