for Industry, Solar Thermal, Heat Grids and Power Plants in the temperature range 80-400°C
Thermal energy storages are a key technology for the large scale integration of fluctuating renewable sources and for increasing the energy efficiency of industries and communities. Based on the results of the preliminary research project “StoreITup!” polymer-based-PCM storages will be constructed and tested in laboratory and operational environment. The storages are expected to be industrially producable and economically viable (‹50 €/kWh). Within StoreITUp-IF, first operating experiences in context with the use of waste heat in the plastics extrusion and cast aluminium industry will be gathered, potential partners for a large scale implementation and energy savings and market potentials will be identified.
