Open BIM vocabulary for Building Materials
Building Information Modeling (BIM) strengthens synergy through work on a common building model for all trades and life cycle phases. To be successful, data modeling needs to store data in the BIM model so that it can be used by other project partners later down the value chain.
"BIM parameters for building materials" defines the BIM parameters for building materials and makes them publicly available. The data was developed with broad industry consensus and prepared for standardization. The definitions are mapped to the open BIM standard IFC so that they can be used for authoring tools and other IFC-capable tools. The results were adopted by Austrian Standards (A.S.I.) on November 22, 2023 and incorporated into the Austrian BIM standard ÖNORM A6241-2.
