The goals of the EU project CyberSecPro are to improve existing courses and training programmes on cyber security, to strengthen the focus on practical aspects of industrial security in different sectors (maritime, health, energy), and to expand existing and establish new public-private partnerships.

According to research by ENISA (CyberHEAD), the JRC (ATLAS) and as evidenced by a variety of reports from the four cyber-security pilot projects (Sparta, CyberSec4Europe, ECHO, CONCORDIA), EU higher education institutions (HEIs) operate more than 128 academic cyber-security programmes (Bachelor and Master). These academic programmes with their static curricula no longer provide the dynamic skills and new capabilities that the market needs. The digital transformation is forcing HEIs to strengthen their role in preparing the new generation workforce and to upskill the existing workforce to meet the ever-growing cybersecurity challenges (e.g. massive AI attacks). 17 universities and 13 security companies from 16 Member States are proposing the CyberSecPro agile training programme for professional cybersecurity. This programme prioritises practicality and application orientation and complements, supports and drives existing academic programmes by linking innovation, research and industry, thereby also supporting academia and SMEs. CyberSecPro aims to bridge the gap between university degrees, professional life and marketable cybersecurity skills needed to meet the challenges in digitisation and become best practices for all cybersecurity training programmes.
