Acoustic effect of shielding edges near the track and platform roofs
The current standards and calculation methods for noise immission calculation for rail traffic noise in Austria are insufficiently suited to consider the effect of screening edges near the track with reflecting and sound absorbing surfaces on the sound propagation. The aim of the research project is the development of an engineering method to model the effects of near-track shielding edges and platform roofs, based on metrological surveys and simulations. The validation of the developed method will be carried out by using exemplary calculations. The effects of platform edges and railroad roofs on adjacent points near railroad stations will be specifically investigated.
This project is funded by the BMVIT and the ÖBB within the program Transport Infrastructure Research VIF 2011 of the FFG.
