Libraries are also faced with the question of how deal with challenges such as digitisation and the changing needs of their users. The Horizon Europe project LibrarIN was recently launched. LibrarIN is a Horizon Europe project aiming to provide new avenues for participatory management and sustainable finance for European libraries as key cultural institutions. The project will examine ways that libraries can develop new functions, services and engagement with the individuals, organisations and communities they serve. This requires social innovation based on public value co-creation and a demand-driven design of library services.Under the leadership of Doris Schartinger, the AIT Center for Innovation Systems & Policy is involved with its scientific expertise in case studies on transformation in libraries, which highlight tensions and possible solutions and lead to practical policy recommendations.
