A network of battery experts

LiPLANET’s overall objective is to create a European innovation and production ecosystem. We plan to build a more competitive Lithium battery cell manufacturing ecosystem and increase the production of Lithium cells towards industrial scale, by bringing together the most relevant European Lithium battery cell pilot lines and the main stakeholders of the battery sector.

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to create an European innovation and production ecosystem by forming a network of research pilot lines for the production of lithium battery cells. We are doing this to accelerate innovation, increase the basis of trained experts, create synergies, favour collaboration with the industry and academia and further the production of battery cells towards industrial scale in the EU.

Why we’re setting up LiPLANET

The need for a competitive European knowledge in battery technology and battery cell production has lead to many non-industrial pilot lines recently established all around Europe.

Alone, each pilot line can hardly keep up with the advancements of battery cell production, particularly in Asia.

In order to maximise the benefits of Europe battery related efforts, mutual exchange of data, expertise, and access rights between these pilot lines is crucial.

Our vision for a sustainable network

Europe benefits from a powerful innovation and production ecosystem built upon a strong network of research pilot lines for lithium battery cells that …

…connects R&D battery cell pilot lines all around Europe,

…is inclusive towards industrial and non-industrial stakeholders,

…establishes the competencies, value chains, and unique selling propositions,

…powering the development towards industrial scale production of lithium battery cells.
