"As head of the Competence Unit "Cooperative Digital Technologies" (CDT), I would be delighted

if you were to apply to AIT and start your scientific work at the Center for Digital Safety &

Security (DSS) in one of the main areas of work that I supervise."

With the founding of the new Competence Unit Cooperative Digital Technologies (CDT) in April 2020, the core competencies built up over many years in the application areas of

  • Environment & Climate
  • Public Safety & Defence
  • Civil Protection & Public Services

have bundled even more strongly, in order to be able to react quickly and in a focused manner to current market trends.

In the now established Competence Unit CDT, we develop solutions for these and other areas of application. We use a wide range of digital technologies to develop solutions for countries, organisations and individuals to prepare for and manage crises. Central to our research are concepts and technologies for the collection of data, the exchange and interpretation of information, as well as the exchange of the knowledge acquired. This approach enables us to increase the resilience of organisations at the technical, organisational and systemic levels.

In close coordination with stakeholders, we develop innovative solutions for different fields of application in the areas of public safety as well as environmental and climate management. The problems addressed range from short- and long-term preparation for hazards, through the management of operations and measures, to the follow-up and damage reduction of events.
