The challenge with multimaterial design is that every new material requires experience in order to consider it a component or assembly design. This applies for the design of the multimaterial components, the production of the components as well as the integration into the vehicle.
The main target for the project MBD is to generate knowledge for the development and the simulation of multimaterial components and the corresponding joining technologies. In contrast to the body-in-white design focusing on steel, special investigations will be necessary for the material mixtures and the joining technologies.
