System-on-Chip (SoC) based inverter controller board

Next generation electic drive applications have imposed new demands on the inverter control unit. Those requirements have led to project RISE. RISE is a modern inverter control platform which covers a wide area of next generation concepts and provides advanced system monitoring capabilities.

The aim of this project is to implement a control board for inverters based on the Zynq-7000 SoC. Main features of the RISE platform:

  • High speed switching – ready for next level wide band gap semiconductors
  • Fiber optic IO’s – high EMI immunity of power module connection
  • Multi-level – control one 3-Level electric drive or two 2-Level electric drives
  • Multi-phase – control one 6-Phase electric drive or two 3-Phase electric drives
  • Different switching schemes for 2-Level and 3-Level inverter (Selective-Harmonic-Elimination (SHE) PWM, Space-Vector (SV) Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM))
  • Voltage-Morphing to Achieve Smooth Transitions Between Different Switching-Schemes
  • Versatile machine topology control algorithms
  • Extended connectivity (Gigabit Ethernet, RS232 and CAN support)
