New Year's reception with brains, heart and humour

11.02.2025
At the AIT New Year's Reception on 22 January at the Siemens Conference Center powered by AIT WOMEN:Network, Monika Herbstrith-Lappe inspired around 80 AIT employees with a lively talk on why future-proof business needs diversity.

The event kicked off with a video message from MD Brigitte Bach, who was unfortunately unable to attend the event. There was something for everyone in the much-anticipated talk that followed: Monika Herbstrith-Lappe, business coach and award-winning keynote speaker, physicist and neuroscientist, diver and book author, gave a talk entitled ‘Future-fit business needs men, women and simply ALL genders - especially in times of AI. Why EVERYONE benefits from diversity’ at the AIT New Year's Reception, she provided plenty of inspiration and personal experience. She spoke about her own experience as a physicist in a male-dominated world and made it clear that diversity is not a given - it has to be actively embraced.

With a lot of humour, she conveyed that diversity starts with each and every one of us. ‘Don't be like everyone else, be unique, unique and unique,’ she appealed to the audience. She also addressed the topic of AI and showed that AI-generated images often still have a long way to go. As a future manager, Monika Herbstrith-Lappe appealed: ‘The future needs confidence.’ As a maker of possibilities, she argues convincingly: ‘There are always more possibilities, or rather, utilise the sea of possibilities.’ In the midst of difficulties lie favourable opportunities. These opportunities must be seized. ‘Opportunity intelligence is a key future skill in the digital age: creatively increasing and utilising opportunities,’ said Herbstrith-Lappe.

The AIT WOMEN:Network core team Diotima Bertel, Nicole Brosch, Ghazal Etminan, Katja Fröhlich, Julia Himmelsbach, Katja Lamprecht, Ursula Sauer, Christine Wahlmüller-Schiller (moderator) and Beatrix Wepner provided information on the stage about further activities planned for 2025. Afterwards, there was further discussion and chatting over refreshments and good finger food. Thank you to everyone involved in the realisation of this reception.
