The Future on Your Plate

Nov 11
Workshop on Biotechnology & Alternative Proteins for Austria 2036

What will our food system look like in ten years’ time, and what role will Austria play in it? As global supply chains come under pressure and environmental limits become apparent, biotechnological innovations are coming to the fore: cell-cultured meat and fish, precision fermentation for milk and cheese alternatives, and sustainable substitutes for palm oil and coffee. The potential is vast, but so too are the unanswered questions and societal debates. As part of a side event to ESIB 2026, we are bringing together key players from the Austrian food-tech community, politics, business and the media to actively discuss precisely this future.
