Automated mobility as an efficiency driver and European challenge
Automated mobility offers and services have the potential to significantly increase the efficiency of the transport system - with positive effects on climate, environmental protection, safety, affordability and accessibility. At the same time, the nationwide scaling of these solutions is one of the major European tasks for the future, as it will determine the future attractiveness of locations and quality of life in both urban and rural areas.
Building expertise for Austria's mobility ecosystem
In order to survive on the dynamic international market, operators, industry and service providers in Austria must strategically develop new areas of strength. The targeted expansion of core competences in the areas of automation, data management and service operation is the prerequisite for successful automated mobility services and sustainable value creation in Austria.
auto.GigaApp: 5G-based teleoperation on the road to autonomous driving
auto.GigaApp is preparing the transition from operation with a safety operator on board to fully autonomous driving. The teleoperation of automated vehicles is to be realised through the gradual takeover of vehicle control by intelligent systems inside and outside the vehicle and the use of 5G networks with low latency. The project therefore addresses both the technical challenge - LTE is not sufficient as a mobile communications standard - and the design and testing of remote control for passenger and small goods transport.
Proof of efficiency and effectiveness of sustainable use cases
auto.GigaApp develops and tests practical application scenarios for the transport of people and small goods with automated vehicles and provides evidence of the efficiency and effectiveness of these new services. By analysing operating scenarios, user acceptance and key business figures, reliable use cases are identified and the basis for widespread implementation is created.
