In future, autonomous robots and intelligent machines will take over heavy, monotonous and dangerous tasks – from construction sites to logistics. For this to work safely and reliably, powerful AI, robust sensor technology and intelligent motion planning are required. Researchers from the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology are presenting six new technologies at the world’s leading robotics conference, ICRA 2026, in Vienna – ranging from precise 3D perception and adaptive safety algorithms to autonomous cranes for real-world use. A highlight: at the ‘Festival of Robots’ on Vienna’s Karlsplatz, a fully autonomous robotic crane will be demonstrated live in public for the first time.
