Elderly people and persons with cognitive challenges who live independently can involve safety and security risks. Critical issues include operating equipment and appliances such as a stove, entrance control to the house, and triggering alarms in the case of falls or accidents. AIT has developed a logic engine that interrelates static and dynamic content information with real-time sensor data to locate the person and compute situational awareness. In the case of an emergency, content-aware messages, reminders and instructions are given to the person via smartphone or tablet. Alarms can also be triggered. There is also an interface for caregivers to interact in real-time.
