Warsaw, June 25, 2025 – At the Security Research Event (SRE) 2025, held on June 24 and 25 at EXPO XXI in Warsaw, the EU-funded DRIVER+ project was honored with the prestigious Security Innovation Award in the Best Open Source Innovation category seren-project.eudlr.de.
DRIVER+, one of the flagship projects in the field of crisis management and civil protection, impressed the jury with its holistic, practical approach and the successful market deployment of its solutions. The project features over 31 partners from Europe and a total budget of more than €40 million.
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology played a central role in the DRIVER+ consortium, particularly through subproject SP3 “Solutions,” which was led by Georg Neubauer, Thematic Coordinator at the Center for Digital Safety & Security, and his team:
- Portfolio of Solutions: The main results from SP3 were compiled in the Portfolio of Solutions—a collection of practical tools and models that have been used long after the project ended. This portfolio is currently undergoing a comprehensive renewal and expansion to make it fit for new challenges.
- Coordination of the Austrian trial: In addition, AIT coordinated the Austrian trial, in which solutions from DRIVER+ were applied, tested, and evaluated for the first time. This pilot phase contributed significantly to the validation and exploitation of the approaches developed.
