Matthias Eckhart, scientist at the Center for Digital Safety & Security, was selected as one of only 200 students and young researchers worldwide to participate in the 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). The renowned forum took place in Heidelberg from September 14 to 19, 2025, bringing together 100 talented individuals from the fields of mathematics and computer science with laureates who have been honored with the highest international awards in their respective fields.
The HLF, organized by the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF), is considered a unique networking forum that facilitates direct exchange between outstanding young scientists and leading figures such as winners of the Abel Prize, the Fields Medal, the ACM A.M. Turing Award, and the Nevanlinna Prize. Top representatives from the ACM, the International Mathematical Union (IMU), and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA) were also in attendance.
Eckhart took advantage of the opportunity to engage in direct exchange with personalities such as Vinton Cerf, Whitfield Diffie, Martin Hellman, Leslie Lamport, and Richard S. Sutton. “The HLF has provided me with unique insights and contacts that will enrich my work at AIT in the long term,” Eckhart emphasizes.
Participation was made possible by the SAP scholarship sponsored by SAP SE. With this award, AIT underscores its role in promoting young talent for Europe's digital future.
