SARS-CoV publication with AIT co-authors Anna Gerhartl, Andreas Brachner and Winfried Neuhaus among the best publications 2021-2022 in renowned journal.
 

AIT Molecular Diagnostic Experts Anna Gerhartl, Andreas Brachner and Principal Scientist Winfried Neuhaus, from the Center for Health and Bioresources, have been listed with their publication on the role of the blood-brain barrier in SARS-Cov-2 infection. among the best publications of 2021-2022 ("Best of 2021-2022") by the journal "Stem Cell Reports".

There have been numerous reports linking SARS-CoV-2 infection and effects on the human nervous system in COVID-19, but the causes for these neurological symptoms are still unclear. The question of how the virus behaves in humans has been investigated by Hamburg research groups led by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Susanne Krasemann and coordinated by Dr. Ole Pless with the help of the Biological Barriers Group of the AIT Competence Unit Molecular Diagnostics.
