The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is part of the EU-wide EXAELIA research project, which is investigating new aircraft concepts such as the blended wing body and hydrogen engines. The aim is to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions from aviation and contribute to climate neutrality in the long term - without sacrificing range or efficiency.
“Aviation is facing a necessary change in order to become more sustainable in the long term,” says Alessandro Zanon, Senior Scientist at AIT. “EXAELIA makes it possible to systematically develop pioneering aircraft concepts and minimize risks through targeted testing.”
The ÖAMTC reports on the EU project and the key role of research from Austria in the mobility magazine “auto touring” and on the website (in German): https://www.oeamtc.at/autotouring/serie/projekt-exaelia-wie-flugreisen-in-zukunft-nachhaltiger-werden-koennen-79356943
