The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology co-organized the workshop “Quantum-Safe Hybrid Cryptography (QSHC),” which took place in June 2025 as part of the renowned ACNS (Applied Cryptography and Network Security) conference in Munich. The workshop focused on a highly topical issue: the combination of quantum and post-quantum cryptography to secure future communications infrastructures.
To the best of our knowledge, this was one of the first events to focus specifically on the synergies between these two cryptographic paradigms. The aim was to discuss innovative approaches to developing hybrid cryptographic systems that can withstand both current and future threat scenarios.
The workshop met with great interest and was characterized by the high technical quality of the contributions and discussions. AIT would like to thank all participants for their active involvement and, in particular, the two keynote speakers, Fabiana Da Pieve (European Commission) and Felix Wissel (Deutsche Telekom), whose presentations provided important impetus.
Special thanks also go to the project partners of QCI-CAT and the European project QSNP for their valuable support.
AIT sees the strengthening of hybrid, quantum-secure cryptography methods as a decisive step toward securing Europe's digital future. Together with our partners, we are continuously working to translate scientific excellence into application-oriented solutions – especially at the interface between theoretical cryptography, practical implementation, and future quantum communication networks.
