The ORF “ZIB 2” (21/11/2025) reported on the EU project MOBILISE—with sequences showing on-site diagnostics in the mobile BSL-3 laboratory. The report used video material produced by the AIT Molecular Diagnostics group to present its point-of-care solutions. Outbreaks of new and re-emerging infectious diseases require rapid and reliable diagnoses, particularly in regions with limited laboratory infrastructure, where long transport routes delay decisions.
Miniaturised, automated assays (including rapid tests with isothermal amplification and PCR analyses) deliver actionable results on site, for pathogens such as West Nile virus or Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus. Integration into the mobile BSL-3 laboratory significantly shortens the time to diagnosis and relieves central laboratories. Diagnostic results are processed in encrypted form, visualised, and made available via a dashboard as a situational picture for decision-makers.
“ The TV report shows what matters: clinically relevant answers in the shortest possible time—directly at the point of use,” says Johannes Peham, Senior Scientist, AIT Competence Unit Molecular Diagnostics.
After a successful deployment in Europe and Africa, the MOBILISE system is to be made available for use.
