YouthDecide 2040, a major European-funded initiative, has begun a three-year mission to co-create visions for the future of EU democracy. Bringing together 11 leading partners across research, youth advocacy, and strategic foresight, the project places young Europeans at the heart of designing resilient, inclusive democratic pathways for 2040.
The consortium led by AIT Austrian Institute of Technology — including the European Democracy Youth Network (EDYN), Strategic Design Scenarios, WeDo Project Intelligence Made Easy, Missions Publiques, Fraunhofer ISI, Polish Academy of Sciences, European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), European University Institute, European Youth Forum (YFJ), Make.org, and AIT the Austrian Institute of Technology — leverages interdisciplinary expertise to democratize foresight processes, using cutting-edge methods like seeds-based scenario development.
YouthDecide 2040 is now launching an Open Call for young changemakers to take part in a series of participatory workshops across Europe, starting in June 2025. These workshops will gather diverse youth voices to co-create democratic visions through creative foresight activities. Travel and accommodation are covered for selected participants.

The project builds on national and EU-level efforts to enhance participatory democracy, pushing toward lasting change by embedding citizen foresight into policymaking structures across Europe.
