The 26th Austrian Climate Day will take place at the University of Vienna from April 8 to 10, 2026. Under the motto "Building Bridges: From Knowledge to Change," the most important networking event of the Austrian climate research community brings together science, politics, and practice to discuss current research results and identify ways to implement climate protection and adaptation measures.
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology will be represented with several contributions, contributing its expertise on key issues of decarbonization, energy transition, climate adaptation, and climate services. The work presented ranges from transformation pathways to climate neutrality and analyses of heat risks in cities to potential analyses of renewable energies and innovative modeling approaches.
AIT contributions to Austrian Climate Day 2026:
- Marianne Bügelmayer-Blaschek (AIT) – How climate targets become reality: Climate mitigation pathways to achieve climate neutrality – and adaptation by 2050 (poster)
- Demet Suna (AIT) – DeRisk-E – Derisking the Austrian Electricity Sector Transformation towards Decarbonization (poster)
- Andrea Hochebner (AIT) – Who's feeling the heat: Spatial analysis of current and future heat risk in Austrian cities (presentation)
- Martin Schneider (AIT) – Scaling climate analysis maps for Austrian cities – Transparency, comparability, and efficient creation of climate maps to support climate-adapted spatial planning (presentation)
- Romana Berg (AIT) – Use.AT – From climate data to usable services: Evaluation of user needs and recommendations for the design of climate services using Austria as an example (poster)
- Katharina Baier (AIT) – HectoRenew: Added value of hectometric model simulations for renewable energies (poster)
- Bernhard Mayr (AIT) – Renewable energy potential in Austria for 2030 and 2040 (poster)
