A rapid increase in drone sightings, flight interruptions, uncertainties regarding regulations and responsibilities, and the implementation of drone defence systems – the current challenges for airports, airlines and air traffic control with unmanned aerial vehicles were the focus of this year's Aviation Symposium, organised by the Austrian Aviation Association. However, the opportunities offered by the use of drones and how they can be meaningfully integrated into an overall traffic concept were also discussed.
Arno Klamminger, Head of Center for Mobility Systems at AIT, discussed the future potential of drones, the latest technologies and possible applications, as well as the role of drones in future intermodal transport concepts, with Norbert Haslacher (Frequentis AG), Andreas Perotti (FACC AG), Martin Komarek (Schiebel Group) and Gerhard Peller (Bladescape Air) about the future potential of drones, the latest technologies and possible applications, as well as the role of drones in future intermodal transport concepts.
