The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology impressed at VISION 2024, the world's leading trade fair for machine vision in Stuttgart, with innovative solutions for industry and logistics. With more than 1,000 trade visitors at its stand and its own series of lectures, the “SCIENTIFIC VISION DAYS”, the AIT established itself as a leading research hub in the field of machine vision.
Cutting-edge technological solutions for the manufacturing industry
AIT presented high-performance inspection systems developed specifically for the challenges of the manufacturing industry. Particular emphasis was placed on the “ici:microscopy” 3D microscope, which was recognized as one of the top 5 innovations at the show. This technology enables precise inline inspection of moving objects in 2D and 3D. Other solutions, such as the multi-award-winning “ici:inspect” for simultaneous 2D and 3D inspections and “xposure:photometry”, an ultra-fast 3D surface scanner, demonstrated AIT's outstanding capabilities.
Increased efficiency in logistics through autonomous technologies
Another highlight was the autonomous forklift truck, which is specially designed for outdoor use. Equipped with multimodal sensor systems and intelligent algorithms, it increases efficiency in off-road logistics and enables safe control even under adverse conditions. A guided tour for trade visitors from the logistics industry highlighted the potential of this technology, which also supports remote control and fleet management.
Knowledge transfer between research and industry
In addition to technological demonstrations, AIT provided a platform for exchange between science and industry as part of the “SCIENTIFIC VISION DAYS”. The focus was on topics such as AI-supported image processing, innovative sensor technology and the use of synthetic data to optimize image processing solutions. Petra Thanner, expert and thematic coordinator of the Competence Unit High-Performance Vision Systems at AIT, emphasized: “With our SCIENTIFIC VISION DAYS, we are providing a special platform for cutting-edge technologies and positioning ourselves as a central hub for machine vision research.”
VISION 2024 impressively confirmed AIT's leading role in machine vision and AIT's appearance provided new impetus for future developments in industry and logistics.
