On 17 September 2019, two AIT projects were honoured with the VCÖ Mobility Award 2020 at a festive gala event. SUPERBE won in the category ‘Research and Scientific Studies’, InFraReD in the category ‘Digitalisation’.
In the SUPERBE project, experts from AIT, TU Wien and lorenz consult investigated the potential of the Superblock planning concept in an Austrian context. This concept, which is already being applied in Barcelona and other Spanish cities, allows for a reorientation of priorities in traffic in order to design street spaces as living environments with a high quality of life.

Also among the winning projects: InFraReD – Intelligent Framework for Resilient Design. An AI-supported planning platform makes it possible to take mobility issues into account in the early planning phases of urban and settlement development and to compare different variants and scenarios.
