Following the successful new edition of the Technology Talks 2024 with more than 850 participants, this year's Technology Talks Austria will focus on the topic of "Boosting Competitiveness - The Power of Research and Innovation", i.e. the central importance of research, technology and innovation (RTI) for competitiveness. The Technology Talks Austria 2025 will take place back-to-back with the FFG Forum on 11 and 12 September in the MuseumsQuartier Vienna.
Boosting Competitiveness - The Power of Research and Innovation
Europe faces tough competition from other economic powers, particularly the USA and China. Europe has recently fallen significantly behind in terms of competitiveness, productivity and innovative strength. New approaches and solutions are urgently needed to counteract this - as called for in the relevant renowned analyses (Draghi and Heitor Report).
Keynotes, plenary debates, workshops and space for networking
In an innovative mix of high-calibre keynote speeches by internationally renowned speakers, diverse plenary debates, in-depth workshops and plenty of room for
Discussion and networking, the Technology Talks set out to find answers to the following questions:
- How can Europe become more productive and competitive?
- How can Europe regain its technological lead?
- What framework conditions does a prospering centre of innovation need?
- How can Europe remain competitive in the long term?
- What conclusions can be drawn from this for European, national and regional RTI policy?
A multi-stakeholder perspective is adopted in all formats: The three groups of science/research, business/industry and politics/public authorities are always involved - with the aim of identifying solutions and deriving conclusions for European and Austrian RTI policy.
Europe, Austria and regions
"Following the great success of Technology Talks Austria 2024 as Austria's leading conference for research, technology and innovation with a European horizon, we will increasingly involve the federal states in 2025 - well aware of how central regional innovation systems are to the competitiveness of Austria and Europe as a business location," explains Brigitte Bach, Chairwoman of the event's Board of Trustees and AIT Managing Director.
"Future prosperity depends crucially on technological leadership in key areas. In the global competition for influence and prosperity, targeted strategies are needed to ensure that Austria and Europe continue to play a leading role in the future," emphasises Andreas Kugi, Chairman of the Programme Committee and AIT Scientific Director.
