TX Meet-Up on the topic of VR planning

09.05.2019
Einsatz von Augmented Reality (AR) und Virtual Reality (VR) im Planungs- und Bauprozess

On 9 May, the AIT Center for Technology Experience once again hosted an exciting TX Meet-Up on the topic ‘The use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in the planning and construction process’. Experts Helmut Schrom-Feiertag and Georg Regal shared their insights from the ‘VR-Planning - we're planning’ research project with the participants, among other things. They also provided ideas on how AR and VR can be used in other planning and construction projects. Finally, the participants had the opportunity to explore the ‘Am Seebogen’ quarter in aspern Vienna's Urban Lakeside and the new Kapfenberg train station using AR and VR.
In the age of digitalisation, AR and VR provide valuable impulses for increasing interest in participation processes and for a better understanding of construction projects. Urban planners, project developers, architects and transport planners can benefit from the possibilities of virtual representation.

The VR-Planning research project was funded by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology as part of the Future Mobility programme. The project partners are the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Fraunhofer Austria, PlanSinn Planung & Kommunikation, Wien 3420 aspern Development AG, ByteFex and ostertag ARCHITECTS.
