23.09.2025

The IT Business Award eAward 2025 is entering a new round – and an impressive range of projects has been nominated in the sustainability category, demonstrating how technology, environmental protection, and social responsibility can be combined. The winners will be announced on September 30, 2025.

The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is proud to announce an important recognition: With its PeaceTech Alliance project, the AIT, together with the Austrian Center for Peace, has been nominated for the eAward 2025 in the sustainability category.

What is the PeaceTech Alliance?

The PeaceTech Alliance is an initiative coordinated by AIT that operates at the intersection of digital technologies, peace, and conflict research. Its goal is to use technological tools in an ethical, inclusive, and integrative manner to promote peace, identify conflicts at an early stage, and reduce social tensions.

Some key features:

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration: Research, politics, NGOs/peacebuilding organizations, and technology developers work together.
  • Focus on ethical use of digital technologies, data sovereignty solutions, and participation of affected communities.
  • Newer concepts such as Environmental PeaceTech shed light on how the environment, climate change, and conflicts are interrelated and how digital tools can help generate positive momentum.
